LANGLADE HOSPITAL,
the Aspirus
Clinic and the community
welcomed home Patrick McKenna,
MD, this past November. Dr.
McKenna graduated from the
University of Wisconsin–Madison
and specializes in family medicine
and obstetrics.
Dr. McKenna is married to Tonya
McKenna Trabant, and they have
two small children.
Dr. McKenna is the nephew
of John McKenna, MD, who has
practiced medicine in Antigo for
more than 50 years. Te newest
Dr. McKenna, Patrick, is one of
seven children—fve of whom have
pursued medical degrees.
McKenna medicine in the Antigo
community has deep roots—dating
all the way back to the early 1920s.
One of the frst city hospitals in
Antigo was operated by E. J. and
M. J. Donohue, with the
assistance of their sisters
Agnes and Teresa Donohue.
E. J. and M. J. were the uncles
of E. A. McKenna, Dr. John
McKenna’s father.
Te original Langlade
Memorial Hospital, which
opened in 1933, had 60 adult beds
and 18 bassinets. Te hospital’s

In 1961 Dr. John McKenna
returned home to assume his
father’s practice and moved into a
storefront joined by Dr. Fox in 1963.
In 1964 the storefront moved to a
new clinic building on Clermont
Street where Drs. Fox and McKenna
were joined by Dr. Blink and Dr.
Holm.
In 1992, the General Clinic broke
McKenna Medicine
Comes Full Circle
ground for its current facility,
located adjacent to Langlade
Hospital. It opened in May of 1993.
Tings have come full-circle for
the McKenna family—Dr. Patrick
McKenna will practice at the clinic
his uncle established.
